Conservation of linear momentum
Describe a system's momentum as the sum of the momenta of individual objects in the system. Apply Newton's second and third laws to understand why momentum is conserved in systems experiencing no net external force. Identify systems in which momentum is conserved, and analyze the motion of objects in those systems before and after a collision or explosion.
